Hi! I hope you’re all enjoying a good lazy Sunday. I certainly am! Not so lazy that I didn’t do my makeuo though! I went for my go to look, the one I can do without even thinking about it. This is what I would wear to school everyday if I was willing to get out of bed and do my makeup (and let’s be honest, most days I’m more interested in the extra five minutes of sleep).
Do you ever have leftover rhubarb compote? I don’t (because I eat it all every time), but maybe you do! And if you do, I have a great recipe for you. This rhubarb strawberry smoothie takes only three ingredients and makes just enough for one person. Of course, you can also easily double or quadruple it.
Is this not the cutest lip balm you’ve ever seen? It’s by Tony Moly, a Korean brand that’s products are absolutely adorably packaged. It’s recently been popping up at retailers like Sephora and Urban Outfitters and intrigued me. Lucky for me, my friend gave it to me for my birthday! This clear lip balm retails for $9 at Sephora and comes in blueberry, which is what I have, and honey, which comes in a red metallic lip rather than a pink one.
FUN FACT: Bbo Bbo means Kiss in Korean!
What Tony Moly Says:
“Bbo Bbo Lip Balm’s light texture makes lips feel like honey. It is a cult-favorite amongst Korean pop stars, and “Bbo Bbo” means “kiss” in Korea. This clear-colored balm is infused with hydrating ingredients that include vitamin E and either honey or blueberry extract. Its soft fragrance leaves lips with an irresistible scent, and it’s great for wearing alone or layering with your favorite lipstick.”
Packaging: Too cute to handle! I can’t get enough of these metallic pink lips! My only issue is that because this lip balm comes in a pot and not in a squeeze tube or stick, it has to be applied with one’s fingers. For me, that makes this more of a bedside table lip balm than a keep in my purse all day lip balm.
Scent: Blueberry! I’m a berry fanatic so I LOVE this scent/flavor.
Texture & Effectiveness: This has just enough slip to make it not “gunky” or impossible to get product out of. It still takes a couple dips to cover your lips, but it’s not a big deal. I find it to be quite effective at moisturizing the lips. It stayed on for at least a couple hours and left my lips visibly less chapped. Especially in winter, lip balm is a necessity. This one is great!
Wrap-Up: If you’re willing to go above drugstore for a lip balm and don’t mind dipping your fingers in, this is an adorable and effective choice!
Hello! Today I’m showing you the four products I’ve hit pan on. As you probably know, hitting pan is when you use a pan product such as eyeshadow, blush, bronzer, or setting powder until you can see the metal pan. So the products you’ve hit pan on are probably your most loved. These are definitely some of my most loved!
I know, I know. This blush doesn’t exactly scream February. It’s not winter-y at all, but that hasn’t stopped me from wearing it at least once a week this winter. Cream blushes like Make Up For Ever’s HD Second Skin ones are so easy to throw on that I can’t help. This one, #225, is the perfect peach to brighten up your face. These retail for $26 for .09 oz.
Hey! It’s almost my birthday so on Friday I went and picked up the annual Sephora Birthday Gift. This year’s gift is 2 mini NARS Lip Pencils. If you’re a VIB ROUGE, you’ll also get a mini black eyeliner, but I’m only a VIB. First there’s Cruella, a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, and then Rikugien, a Satin Lip Pencil. If you’ve never tried NARS’ lip pencil formula, don’t forget to pick up this free gift when your birthday comes around. The full sizes retail for $26 for .07-.08 oz depending on the type. These two are .05 and .06 oz, making this set worth almost $40!
Are you a Rhubarb fan? I definitely am. Actually, I’m obsessed with rhubarb. Everyone who knows me knows it. Half of those people didn’t even know what rhubarb was until I started talking about incessantly. Rhubarb is underrated and largely unknown. Yes, it looks a little like pink celery and is very tart until you add sugarIt pops up in select grocery stores after winter and disappears again when summer ends. So, when I see rhubarb, I get excited and I grab it. That’s what happened a few days ago. And now I have compote for you! (Well, actually for me, since I ate it, but you get my point.)
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a great time ringing in 2015! Amidst all the fun this holiday season, I’ve found plenty of (probably too much) time to read my favorite food and beauty blogs, as well as discover some new faves. So, I’m kicking off this year talking about them. This edition of Best of the Blogs is long overdue- keep reading to see some spectacular blog posts about makeup confessions and holiday baking like chewy molasses gingerdoodles!
With the holiday season came lots of cosmetics kits and sets. And one of the most intriguing ones to me was this Peter Thomas Roth face mask trio. Entitled the Mini Mask Magic Kit, it comes with three of Roth’s famous masks: the Pumpkin Enzyme, Cucumber Gel, and Rose Stem Cell. All 3, in my opinion, smell almost edible. You can find this set at Sephora for $20 for three .5 oz. jars. Each mask separately retails for $45-$58 for 5 oz.
Happy Holidays, everyone! I hope you are all having the best time off, no matter what you celebrate.
